The Benefits of Screened Porches
Nothing says summer is here like the sound of flies buzzing around in your ear as you sit on your porch enjoying a nice summer evening. All of
this can be avoided however, just by adding a screen to your porch. Screened porches are becoming more and more popular as people are deciding
that they have had enough of that annoying buzzing sound, or having to light candles to keep the flies away. It might not seem like it but
building a screen on your porch is way more cost effective in the long run than buying all the gadgets on the market today that promise to keep
the mosquitoes away from your home.
Building a screen on your porch does not have an expensive or challenging task. It is in fact something that you can do on your own over the
course of a weekend. However, if you have never completed such a task before it is important you know what you have to do. If you are deciding to
do it yourself then it is best that you have a square or rectangle porch to work with. Anything else may become a little more complicated.
Basically building a screened porch involves three stages. The first would be of course to build your porch; if this has already been
completed then you are well on your way. The next step is to build a roof out over the top of your porch. This is very important as you need
something to attach the screen to. This roof does not have to completely cover the porch as you can screen this area as well but it is a good
idea as it will keep the rain out as well. The finally step to building a screened porch is to attach the screen or mesh to your structure. The
screening can be attached by simply stapling it to the frame.
